TWO WEEK’S VACATION BY THE GOVERNOR. Nassnews correspondent, Delta State Assembly, Bozimo Ebipame-ere Ophelia

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, notified the State House of Assembly of his two-week’s vacation starting October 7, 2024. Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme will act as Governor during his absence, as stated in Section 190 of the Nigerian Constitution.

The Governor’s letter was read at plenary by Speaker Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, which state as follows “I bring warm greetings to the Right Honourable Speaker and the members of the Delta State House of Assembly and inform the Honourable House, that I would be proceeding on two weeks vacation leave from Monday, 7th October 2024.

“In accordance with Section 190 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, His Excellency, Chief (Sir) Monday Onyeme, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, shall perform the duties of my office as Acting Governor during the period of the leave”. The governor further stated as thus “I will be greatly appreciated if the foregoing is placed before the Honourable House for their information. Please, accept the assurance of my high regard and best wishes for you and the Honourable members of the House”.

The letter was received and moved as motion by the House Majority Leader, Hon (Dr) Emeka Nwaobi and adopted by the whole house.

The House also received the report of its Special Committee on Bills on the review of the report of the Public Accounts Committee on the report of the Auditor-General (State) on the Accounts of the Delta State Government for the year ended 31st December 2022. The said report was presented by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, member representing Aniocha North and Majority Leader of the House.

The majority leader moved motion for possible consideration and adoption of the bill by the house and seconded by member representing Warri South Hon. Chief Benson Obire.

The House adjourned until October 8, 2024.
