The bill, sponsored by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. (Engr.) Emeka Emmanuel Nwaobi, who represents the Aniocha North Constituency, aims to establish a registry for domestic service providers. This registry, managed by the Ministry of Women Affairs, will serve as a database for both domestic staff and their respective employers.

Hon. Nwaobi highlighted the key merits of the bill, emphasizing its role in protecting the interests of both domestic staff and employers. He noted that, once enacted, the law would provide a system to trace domestic workers, addressing instances where domestic staff have committed crimes such as theft or even murder against their employers. Additionally, he pointed out that the bill would also safeguard domestic workers from maltreatment, ensuring that their rights are respected
