Senator Ned Nwoko Declares for APC, Vows to Champion Anioma’s Development
Senator Ned Nwoko Addresses Constituents, Pledges Unwavering Commitment to Anioma’s Progress
My dear Anioma brothers and sisters,
I stand before you today not just as your representative in the Senate, but as your advocate, your voice, and your unwavering champion. Anioma has waited long enough for the development we rightfully deserve. We have contributed immensely to Delta State and Nigeria, yet our calls for progress have been met with empty promises and endless excuses.
For too long, our demands for basic infrastructure and essential services have been ignored:
Electricity from Okpai Power Station: This project has the potential to illuminate our towns, drive commerce, and create jobs, yet it remains a distant dream.
Water from the Ogwashi-Uku Dam: A valuable resource that should be serving our people but instead lies underutilized, while our communities continue to struggle with water scarcity.
Good roads to boost trade and agriculture: Key projects such as the Asaba-Ugbolu-Illah Road, Kwale-Ogume-Amai-Obiaruku Road, and Idumuje-Ugboko Road have remained neglected, hampering economic growth.
A Delta State Airline: A bold initiative that could transform our economy and attract investment remains a mere proposal due to a lack of vision and political will.
A Delta State Rail Network: While other states advance, this crucial project, which would ease transportation and enhance commerce, has been left on paper.
I have tirelessly fought for these projects, but the state government has refused to act. Instead, a few individuals have hijacked the system, using power for personal gain while the rest of us are left as mere spectators in our own state.
Political Marginalization
Despite my efforts to push for fair representation and inclusive governance:
When the Governor personally asked me to submit names for commissioner appointments, none were considered.
My recommendations for chairmen of boards and parastatals were ignored.
My advocacy for equitable representation at the local government level was suppressed by political manipulation.
I can no longer be part of this failed system—a system that has neglected Anioma’s contributions and refused to acknowledge the value of our people. However, while I leave behind a government of excuses, I will never abandon my people. Together, we are stepping into a new era of possibilities.
Legislative Achievements and Infrastructure Development
As your representative in the Senate, I remain committed to delivering real progress—both legislatively and through direct interventions. In less than two years, I have sponsored 26 bills and 22 motions, tackling critical issues affecting our people and the nation.
Key Bills I Have Championed:
The Anioma State Creation Bill (currently at the committee stage), bringing our long-cherished dream closer to reality.
The upgrade of the College of Education (Technical) Asaba into a Federal University of Technology.
The establishment of a Nigerian Defence Academy campus in Kwale.
The establishment of an Orthopedic Hospital at Onicha-Ugbo.
Urgent erosion control projects in Agbor to prevent environmental degradation and protect our communities.
Beyond lawmaking, I have spearheaded numerous constituency projects and empowerment programs, addressing the development gap neglected by the state government.
Infrastructure Projects Secured Through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC):
1. Rehabilitation of the Agbor/Abraka/Eku Road (in three phases), enhancing connectivity across key towns.
2. Construction of the Abbi Road, improving business growth and easing transportation.
3. Construction of the Amai/Ogume Road, unlocking economic opportunities and improving accessibility.
4. Installation of solar streetlights in Umutu, boosting security and modernization.
5. Rehabilitation of the Onicha Ugbo-Idumuje-Ugboko-Ewohimi Road, easing travel and fostering socio-economic integration.
6. Construction of the Asaba-Oko-Okpai-Aboh-Ase Road, strengthening regional trade and connectivity.
Constituency Projects Secured Under the 2024 Appropriation Bill:
Many of these projects are completed and already bringing immense benefits to our people:
1. Provision of all-in-one solar streetlights in various communities (Kwale, Idumuje-Ugboko, Idumuje-Unor, Onicha-Ugbo, and Asaba).
2. Construction of solar-powered boreholes in Umunede and Idumuje-Ugboko.
3. Supply of medical equipment to primary healthcare centers in Aniocha North, Oshimili South, Ndokwa West, and Ika North East.
4. Medical outreach programs in Aniocha North and Oshimili South.
5. Youth, women, and farmer empowerment programs across Delta North Senatorial District.
6. Training and provision of security gadgets to law enforcement agencies.
7. Fencing and rehabilitation of Idumuje-Ugboko Police Station.
8. Construction of a mini stadium and gaming facility in Issele-Uku (ongoing).
9. Construction of a 2km road in Idumuje-Ugboko (ongoing).
Special Intervention Projects Underway:
1. Construction of Aniofu Dam (pre-feasibility studies ongoing).
2. Maintenance of Ogwashi-Uku Dam in Aniocha South.
3. Rehabilitation of failed sections of the Benin-Asaba Expressway (Onitsha head bridge to Alifekede).
These projects are more than just infrastructure—they are lifelines that enhance economic growth, healthcare access, education, and trade. My unwavering commitment is to implement even more sustainable projects that will transform our communities for generations to come.
Joining the APC for a Brighter Future
Tomorrow, I will take a significant step forward—I will join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party where development is not just a promise but a commitment.
By joining the APC, I embrace:
A future where Anioma is respected, not sidelined.
A government that delivers, not one that delays.
Massive infrastructure development that will transform Delta North.
A renewed hope for Anioma State creation, as APC has the political will to make it a reality.
For years, Delta State has received immense financial allocations, yet Delta North and Anioma land have little to show for it. I refuse to remain loyal to a few self-serving political elites while our people continue to suffer.
My loyalty has never been to individuals—it is and will always remain with the people. I was elected to serve, to fulfill my promises, and to fight for the future of Anioma. That is what I will continue to do.
To all Anioma sons and daughters in Abuja, I invite you to join me for this historic occasion as I make my declaration on the floor of the Senate tomorrow. Let us stand together as one, in pursuit of the future our people rightfully deserve.
Anioma must rise. Anioma will rise. And together, we will claim our rightful place.
Long live Anioma!
Long live Delta North!
Long live Nigeria!
Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko
Senator, Delta North Senatorial District
