SENATE DIRECTS GOVT. AGENCIES TO SUBMIT AUDIT REPORTS

The Senate has directed federal ministries, department and agencies to submit 2017 audited report to the Auditor Generals office.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts Senator Mattew Urogide, representing Edo South gave the directive in Abuja at the Budget defense of the Auditors Office.
Senator Urogide explained that the act establishing government agencies stipulates that they submit the audited account of the preceding year 6 months into the new year.
He observed that over the years agencies were not abiding by this law a situation that encourages corruption,
According to him with this submission, the office of the Auditor General would stop forms of corruption or embezzlement before it occurs.
