Reps: Need to review bilateral air service agreement – Hon. Bello Kaoje
Hon. Bello Kaoje has on Thursday, the 12th day of Dec. 2019 called for the review of bilateral air service agreement between Nigeria and other countries. This, he said will develop the aviation sector of the economy.
He said that while other foreign airlines such as Emirates Airline which currently operates two daily flights out of Lagos and two daily flights out of Abuja, Etihad Airways from the same country, also operates daily flights out of Lagos which translates to five flights daily a total of 150 flights per month from UAE, as against Nigerian carrier that just started operating three flights weekly with a total of 12 flights per month into the UAE; France and Lufthansa all have glamorous and dedicated lounges and departure wings at their national airports, Air Peace is still battling to get a dedicated lounge and a departure wing at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
He therefore urge the FG to direct an immediate review of all existing Bilateral Airlines Services Agreements between Nigeria and other countries to redress the unfair trade advantage granted to foriegn airlines against Nigeria airlines.
