The Senate in it’s plenary on Tuesday moved a motion for the re-committal of Public Procurement Act (Amendment) Bill, 2017 which was passed by the Senate on Thursday, 16th June, 2016 after the third reading. The motion was Sponsored by the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan from Yobe North, Aware that the Harmonized Bill was adopted by the Senate on Thursday, 27th July, 2017 and forwarded to the Clerk to the National Assembly for further Legislative action. It was noticed that after critical Examination of the Bill, the Legal Services Directorate observed that clause 11(4) and (6) were in conflict, as the clerk of National Assembly is supposed to chair the National Assembly Tender’s Board and should be the secretary of the National Assembly board respectively.
Senate relying on order 1(b) of the Senate standing Order 2015 as amended, resolves to refer the Public Procurement Act (Amendment) Bill, 2017 to the Conference Committee that worked on it earlier for further Legislative action.
