OPEN UP ON YOUR ROLE IN DOGARA’S EMERGENCE, GBAJABIAMILA TELLS TAMBUWAL
A little drama played out yesterday at the birthday celebration and book presentation of Speaker Yakubu Dogara at 50 when the House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, challenged Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to open up on his role in Dogara’s emergence as speaker. Both Gbajabiamila and Tambuwal were best of friends with the former supporting the latter to emerge speaker in 2011. However, when Gbajabiamila contested for speaker against Dogara in June 2015, it was gathered that Tambuwal, instead of paying him back, decided to support the current speaker. This development, it was gathered, affected the relationship between the duo. But Tambuwal has never come out to state the role he played in the whole contest. Thus, when Gbajabiamila was given the opportunity to speak at the occasion to unveil the book ‘Dogara: A Real Made Flint’ in Abuja yesterday, he said that the most interesting aspect of the book to him was the part that dwelled on Tambuwal’s role in Dogara’s emergence. “Since the speaker’s contest, nobody can really say this is the role Tambuwal played. But with this book, I believe we should be able to know. He has not been able to tell anybody the role he played. “Maybe he should be the one to tell us now. Nobody has been able to pin him (Tambuwal) down to state the role he played,” Gbajabiamila said jokingly. But Tambuwal did not respond to Gbajabiamila, rather, he only broke into laughter.
