Nwaoboshi Accuses Nwoko of Plot to Destabilize Delta APC
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Nwaoboshi, has accused his successor, Ned Nwoko, of attempting to dissolve the party’s executive in Delta State.
Nwaoboshi alleged that Nwoko, who recently announced plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, is working with certain elements in the Presidency to dismantle the party’s leadership structure from the state to ward levels before the expiration of their tenure. He described the alleged actions as unacceptable and a threat to the party’s stability.
In a statement made available to The Guardian, Nwaoboshi urged the national leadership of the APC to prioritize adherence to the party’s constitution and democratic principles over the interests of individuals attempting to destabilize the party.
“As a former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District (2015–2023) and a committed leader in the APC, I strongly condemn Nwoko’s attempt to destabilize the Delta State APC,” Nwaoboshi stated. “His actions are unjust and arrogant, particularly as he is not yet a member of the party. Such behavior disregards the democratic principles the APC upholds and disrespects the rights of the duly elected Delta State APC executive.”
He further emphasized that the current Delta State APC executive was legitimately elected and has a mandate to complete its tenure. Any attempt to dissolve the executive prematurely would, according to him, violate the party’s constitution and risk creating chaos, potentially jeopardizing the party’s ability to field candidates in the 2027 general elections.
“If Nwoko is truly interested in joining the APC, he must follow the same process as any other prospective member. This involves building relationships within the party, respecting its leadership structure, and adhering to its constitution and democratic processes. He cannot expect to join the party and immediately dictate its affairs. The APC is a democratic institution governed by established rules and procedures. Nwoko must abide by these rules if he intends to become part of the party.”
Nwaoboshi concluded by calling on the APC national leadership to resist any attempts to undermine the party’s constitution, urging them to protect the integrity and stability of the Delta State APC.
