NO GENERATIONAL WEALTH IN NIGERIA, WE ARE ALL GROWN TRADITIONALLY
A MAN OF SERVICE FOR ALL SEASONS – Dr Uchena Sampson Charles

For a great deal of time, the Eastern part of Nigeria has been imbued with men of renown and impeccable character. Foremost among their qualities arguably will be service and selflessness. Among the array of human endeavors and calling displayed it will no doubt be a daunting task to isolate one among the whole lot and say he is the best because each has his own quality and peculiarity.

But when push comes to shove and only one person has to be chosen the umpires and judges alike will be faced with a mean task. In our opinion there is one person that will fit into the description of a meticulous man of service and for all seasons.
Dr Uchena Sampson Charles, is a lawyer, global cooperate Executiveof group of companies, he is involved in charity worldwide. He is one of the recipients of the NASS AWARDS 2023, the 8th edition. He had a chat with our editor in chief in person of Prince Omoboye Adeboye Oluwole via whatssap video call. I hope we will read to enjoy an outstanding profile like this man.

Nassnews: Haven known your unbeatable record, how did you come into politics?

Dr Uchena Sampson Charles: In view of my contributions to national development, my quest into politics was to help the people of Nigeria. I contested the presidency of Nigeria in the last 2023 presidential election. Unveiling my entrance into the political zone, I obtained the form for Labour Party when the party was dead and help the party to gain momentum. But I refused to contest legally the issues that concerns peter Obi and others around him. It is a matter of allowing the wind to pass.

Nassnews: How was growing up like?
Dr Uchena Sampson Charles: In reality, No Nigerian is born with a silver spoon, no generational wealth in Nigeria, we are all grown in a traditional way, I can’t say we are wealthy but from a decent family background where we eat three square meals a day, help others, went to school without looking for school fees. The basis of what makes a good home is not how much you have but the amount of love that surrounds you. I was filled up with love and I adopted that in my family too. Family love is everlasting Open. I went to school in Port Harcourt and graduated with excellence, I went to college in Bauchi, you can see I am an all-rounder. I jump into politics in 1991, NRC then, worked in the national level, my governor then gave an appointment in his cabinet, from there I decided to build my company in overseas with no criminal record. I established my company and we swing into oil and gas, a global network.

Nassnews: What is different in Nigeria and International Business Terrain?
Dr Uchena Sampson Charles: We are more discipline and organize internationally than in Nigeria because there is no undue favourism or minimally pronounced and there is functional law. Everyone competes searching for how to prosper their business to greater heights, go into partnerships, open door for more business following the velocity of the wind of globalization. Business is better internationally because you don’t go through difficulty in financial transactions. We don’t do cash transactions, everything is advanced, payments are made easy online. Operating from the west is easy, global economy is held by the west. There is a kind of advantage derived in the west compared to Africa, especially Nigeria is the opposite.
In a company in Nigeria they face difficulties, no ethics, no rules, People cheat as much as they want, Lies and Steal. Financial sector need Sympathy, for you to even get things into Nigeria especially payment, you go Through Hell.
Our local banks make things more difficult for our people. There are problems all over the place, this doesn’t allow our businesses to grow. Our governors are all playing Party Politics not wise, we have not help our people. Is a country where if you don’t belong You can’t grow.
Business is well organized in the west, you can grow when you are hardworking in the west but in Nigeria, You must belong to a group Politically before they can help you.

WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP LIKE BETWEENS NINGERIANS IN OVER SEAS AND THEIR COUNTERPARTS?
Nigerians are great people; they are doing well outside. We do have contributed immensely globally. Think of how much we bring into the country annually. Every country has their bad characters too but Nigerians have done so well. Nigerians are most respected all over the world Culturally, traditionally and pride. We are law abiding wherever we find ourselves, we have Nigerians in Europe, America appointed us into positions.
SIR SCORE THE POLICY OF THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.
My view is not enough; I make my judgement on what I hear across geopolitical zones. Nigerians are suffering, if I were given the opportunity I will do better. Cost of fuel affects every Nigerians. Your removal of fuel subsidy means you don’t understand the people. Then we bring about palliatives, it is an insult. Our people are dying, many Nigerians call me for one favour or the other. Poverty is at its highest level in the country. Suffering is at its highest level in the country. Where did we get it wrong? How can you come in as government saying you want to help Nigerians but you are suffering them by removing subsidy on fuel and electricity tariff.
Something is wrong with our constitution. Nigeria constitution has become a paper alone; it is being manipulated by politicians to propagate their crime. Our economic standard is going down and geographically our speed as a nation, the Nigerians don’t understand it.

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO ERADICATE PORVERTY IN NIGERIA?
JOB CREATION:
Poverty is the root of insecurity because perpetrators are jobless young men and women. My economic plan is massive investment on infrastructures on our land water way. Creation of directorate of infacurstructure development, we will grow our nation. People will move their goods and services when road is good. Business will grow when there is electricity.
EDUCATION:
What type of quality education are we given the nation? Poverty can only be eradicated when a nation is educated. Economically, you don’t give them palliatives but give them means of livelihood. Soft interest loan without equilateral, it will bring about a social reconciliation and removal of poverty. Think of the youths like you who has not graduate due to strike and graduates without job or those without food. There is nothing to tell them, I feel their pain, they are frustrated. They have destroyed them; it is painful to bring policy that will break down economic arrangement. When there are jobs for the youths, they will behave themselves.
FISCAL POLICY:
Open up the international fiscal policy. You don’t need to frustrate Nigeria business men and women or anyone who is bringing business or money into the country. But in Nigeria, we have different kind of fiscal policy that will frustrate bringing investors who has money. Anyone that wants to bring money into the country, bring in the money. Create enabling environment for local banks to be able to encourage business. I am not encouraging anyone to do money fraud i.e Yahoo, Yahoo but as president of the country, no money brought into my country that is bad. Let them bring the money into the Nigeria, our economy crashed because we keep taking and not returning. Nigeria needs to wake up.
ANYONE THAT WANT TO BRING MONEY INTO THE COUNTRY BRING:
