NIGERIANS ARE NOT READY FOR SELF LIBERATION- RIVERS CSO. NASSNEWS, Hycienth Ana, Port Harcourt.

Tuesday October 1, 2024.

The Rivers State Civil Society Organizations have expressed mixed feelings concerning the October 1 national protests in the State.

Chairman of the Organization, Comr. Enefaa Georgewill in a telephone interview with our correspondent, expressed uncertainty about the readiness of Nigerians to chat a course for national liberation despite what he described as the shenanigans of the current administration.

Comr. Georgewill stated that the leadership of the civil society will be watching and will provide leadership for a national revolution when they see Nigerians true readiness to chat a national liberation path from the current policies being executed by the Government of the day.

He described the reason for the protest as germane stating that every reasonable Nigerian is supposed to be on the street for protest.

“As organizing CSO coalition in the State, our position is that the reason for the protest is germane, Nigerians are poorer, pushed down the poverty line, the rascality of the Tinubu Government is at the highest helm and that every reasonable Nigerian ought to be on the street to protest. However, a revolution or a people’s outcry cannot be done for them, the people should be the one to say enough is enough. It’s our job to be the vanguard and lead. I’m sorry to say that as at today, the Nigerian people seem more to tolerate the shenanigans of government at all levels and going ahead to want to force such a people, and to do what they are supposed to do ordinarily, is more like moving on top of a very sharp hedge. I respect our Comrades across the country who are leading the charge and encouraging people to come out and participate. Like I said, it’s a germane call, a clarion call, a patriotic call, but I’m afraid that Nigerians by their body language, actions and inactions is not ready to liberate themselves. As a recognized civil society, we have taken a position to standby and watch. Individuals in the coalition are free as Nigerians to participate,” he stated.

He further assured that the coalition will provide the necessary leadership for legal based protest at the readiness of Nigerians.
