NDLEA Kano Command Sieze 6,726,012Kg Of Illicit Drugs, Solicits Media Co-operation

The Kano command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has successfully siezed illicit drugs such as cannabis sativa, psychotropic, khat, cocaine,and heroine weighing 6,726,012Kg in different operations while many offenders are facing prosecutions based on their offences.
This was disclosed by the state commandant of the agency, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul in a press briefing in commemoration of 2019 international day against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking held at the command headquarters,where he added that 620 male offenders and 105 female traffickers were arrested making the total number of arrests reached 725 persons respectively.
Dr. Ibrahim Abdul stated that drug trafficking and consumption has reduced in kano state as seen at present, while the officers and men of the command are working day and night to ensure that illicit drugs and other substances were not allowed to enter into the public.
The commander announced that before his resumption to kano, the state was rated as the first among the 36 states including the federal capital in druIg addits but now every citizen is a living witness that illicit drugs consumption has reduced in kano state because the command has done a lot in enlightening the public on the side effects of drugs trafficking and consumption which is a great victory.
Dr. Ibrahim Abdul therefore commended the civil society organizations and other non-governmental organizations for voluntarily working seriously in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking which has helped immensely in their area of operation, and thanked the agency’s men and women for working actively in reducing drug and other illicit substances consumption in kano state.
The state commander, applauded the executive governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his commitments and determination towards the success of the war against drug abuse by providing all the necessary logistics and financial supports to address the drug trafficking and consumption in his state.
In conclusion, Dr. Abdul listed some of the challenges so far affecting his command which includes lack of adequate manpower,shortage of logistics ,ack of enough facilities to accommodate the teaming addits that require caouselling and rehabilitation as well as in adequate co-operation from some communities.
