IPAC Hails Senator Anyim Pius Anyim on His 64th Birthday
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has extended warm felicitations to former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, on the occasion of his 64th birthday.
Born on February 19, 1961, Anyim is widely recognized as a statesman of integrity, patriotism, and exemplary leadership. Throughout his distinguished career, he has dedicated himself to the service of Nigeria, contributing significantly to the country’s democratic growth and governance.
In a statement on Tuesday, IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described Anyim as a visionary leader and a detribalized Nigerian whose immense contributions to democracy and national development remain invaluable. Dantalle commended Anyim’s intellectual depth and political acumen, recalling his keynote addresses at IPAC conferences, including the recent event on 100 Years of Political Parties Evolution in Nigeria, which played a crucial role in strengthening democratic institutions.
IPAC lauded Anyim’s landmark achievements during his tenure as Senate President (2000–2003), highlighting his leadership in the passage of 65 bills and 72 resolutions that significantly shaped Nigeria’s governance.
“The achievements of the 4th Senate, under his leadership, remain a source of pride,” the statement read. “Notable among them are the establishment of key institutions through legislative acts, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Act, Onshore/Offshore Dichotomy Act, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Act, Police Service Commission Act, National Examination Council (NECO) Act, Small and Medium Scale Industries Development Agency Act, National Roads Maintenance Agency Act, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Act.”
IPAC emphasized that the establishment of these critical agencies under Anyim’s leadership reflects his foresight, resourcefulness, and progressive approach to governance.
The Council commended Anyim for his unwavering commitment to fostering sustainable democracy and national development, urging Nigerians to emulate his dedication to nation-building.
“As we celebrate Senator Anyim, let us rededicate ourselves to building a strong, united, stable, and prosperous democratic nation,” Dantalle stated. “Together, we will usher in a better Nigeria—one that future generations will be proud of.”
