The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday finally honoured the summons of the Senate to answer questions concerning the arrest of Senator Dino Melaye.
On arrival at the Senate, he was taken behind closed doors, in the Senate’s chamber, where he is currently being grilled by the lawmakers.
The IGP had last week failed to honour the Senate’s summons, on the excuse that he was on an official assignment to Bauchi State with President Muhammadu Buhari. He had sent a subordinate, who was turned back by the lawmakers.
Sen Dino Melaye is currently under arrest at the National Hospital, Abuja due to injuries he sustained while trying to escape from police custody, after he turned himself in, when he was declared wanted
