House Sets February 26 for Public Hearing on Tax Reform Bills
The House of Representatives has scheduled a public hearing on the tax reform bills for February 26, following their passage for a second reading by both chambers of the National Assembly.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the decision during plenary on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of public input in shaping the reforms. To facilitate this, the House has constituted a 36-member Special Committee to oversee the hearing and incorporate expert perspectives on tax administration and the benefits of the proposed reforms.
According to Speaker Abbas, the committee will be chaired by Abiodun Faleke (APC, Lagos), with Seidu Abdullahi, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, serving as his deputy. Other members of the committee include Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Nicholas Mutu, Fred Agedi, and Idu Igariwey, among others.
