House of Representatives Congratulates Newly Appointed Clerk and Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly

Abuja, FCT | Thursday, February 6, 2025 – The House of Representatives extends its heartfelt congratulations to Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana on his appointment as Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA) and Engr. Bashir Aminu Yero as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly (DCNA). Their appointments, made by the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), follow the retirement of Sani Magaji Tambuwal, who served with dedication and attained the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

During Tuesday’s plenary, presided over by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the House was formally informed of the appointments, which took effect on February 2, 2025. In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker expressed confidence in the new appointees, stating:

“We trust that their vast experience and expertise will further strengthen the legislative functions of the National Assembly. Their leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the effective administration of this institution and the advancement of democracy in Nigeria.”

The House also conveyed deep appreciation to the outgoing CNA, Sani Magaji Tambuwal, for his years of dedicated service. His professionalism, leadership, and commitment have been instrumental in the progress of the National Assembly.

Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various capacities within the legislative bureaucracy since 1993. A seasoned legal and legislative expert, he has played a key role in legislative drafting, committee oversight, and administrative leadership. Rising through the ranks from Litigation Officer to Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly (DCNA) before his current appointment, his career reflects a deep commitment to the legislative process and public service.

Similarly, Engr. Bashir Aminu Yero, a distinguished administrator and Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), brings extensive expertise in facility management, legislative infrastructure, and bureaucratic coordination. Having previously served as Acting Secretary of the Directorate of Estate and Works, his strong engineering and administrative background will be instrumental in enhancing institutional efficiency.

The House of Representatives looks forward to working closely with the new leadership of the National Assembly bureaucracy to strengthen legislative efficiency, improve institutional management, and enhance service delivery—all in pursuit of our collective commitment to deepening democracy in Nigeria.

Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr.
