Engr. Soliu Badmus bags humanitarian icon award

Nigeria is blessed with young, vibrant, intelligent, goal-getter, agile, disciplined, focused and highly resourceful intellectuals cum professionals who have contributed immensely to the socio-economic, political and technological development of this country.Engr. Soliu Bare Badmos is one of such icons who just bagged humanitarian icon on 28th of July 2018 at Merit House, Abuja.At the anal of the historical event, the change and growth icons converged to be celebrated. Engr. Soliu Bare Badmos, an erudite Chemical Engineer and Administrator per excellence with special bias for renewable energy and bio resources development was referred to a national hero who laid a foundation of legacy and championed the advocacy for the big and prosperous Nigeria. He was born to the prestigious and famous family of Alhaji and Alhaja Gbadamosi. He is an illustrious son of Ilero in the Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State.His enviable academic career and leadership skills started right from his Primary School days when he was a pupil of Local Authority Primary School, Ilero, Oyo State between 1984– 1990. The seed of greatness in him and his outstanding leadership trait never went unnoticed throughout his primary school days because he was always ahead of others morally, academically and socially especially in the areas of literacy debates, school farm activities, sport activities and Quranic Citation. These unique qualities and academic tempo were equally maintained jealously throughout his secondary school days at ADS Comprehensive High School, Ilero, Oyo State, which he had between 1991 and 1996. Right from his secondary school days, every eye was fixed on him that one day he would make Ilero town in particular and Oyo Sate in general very proud.Engr. Badmos got admission into the prestigious Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho in the year 1999 and bagged Bachelor of Technology (Hons) Degree in Chemical Engineering 2004 thus at the age of 22, Bare was already a university graduate. His insatiable quest for knowledge motivated his strong determination to further his education, thus between 2011-2014 he was a postgraduate student of his alma marta, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho from where he obtained a Masters of Technology Degree in Chemical Engineering. He is currently at the verge of completing his Ph.D. research work. He is also certificated in energy audit from NAMS, S&T CENTRE, New Bombay, IndiaEngr. Badmos’ enviable professional career dated back to 2003 when he joined the popular Coca Cola Bottling Company Nigeria Plca, Kwara State as an Assistant Quality Control Officer even while in the University. He also worked briefly with Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, Kwara State in the year 2004. He had his compulsory NYSC programme with Kogi State Water Board between 2004 – 2005. He joined the services of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) in the year 2008 and subsequently became Technical Assistant to the Director General between 2010-2013. He is the pioneer Head of the Agency’s Renewable Energy Plant at BIODEC, Ogbomosho.Just like a golden fish that has no place to hide, Engr. Badmos’ contributions towards the accomplishment of NABDA’s mandate, within the short period he joined the Agency never went unnoticed. When Bioresources Development Centre (BIODEC), Oka Akoko was established in 2016 and there was need to appoint a very competent Officer to head the Centre, the name of Engr Soliu Bare Badmos top the list among several other key Officers recommended for the position. He was appointed the pioneer Head/ Coordinator of Bioresources Development Centre, Oka Akoko in 2016 on merit. This appointment is a consummation of his childhood vision which led him to study Chemical Engineering with special bias for renewable energy and biotechnology /bioresources development. Within the short period he assumed office as the Centre Coordinator, he has been able to transform the Centre by embarking on restructuring and re-engineering of the Centre to be well positioned to achieve the vision for which it was established. Notable amongst his achievements are: Development of BIODEC Oka Akoko Youth Empowerment Scheme (BIOYES) to train and empower 500 youths of Akoko South Local Government area in various bioenterprises as part of the Centre’s strategic approach towards job and wealth creation Construction of Industrial Bore Hole Construction of Aquatic Training House Construction of Standard Administrative Block for the Centre Foundation Laying of Advanced Biotechnology Laboratory Production of Soy Milk Powder Production of Plantain Powder Collaboration with Ondo State for capacity buildingEtcEngr. Soliu Bare Badmos has shown an exemplary competence in the discharge of his responsibilities in the past and this capability has modeled his ability to manage and oversee the installations, running and commissioning of the cassava based fuel ethanol processing plant with the capacity to produce 1000 liters of hydrous grade ethanol (95%) per day using 6 tons of cassava tubers by the honorable Minister of Science and technology.He has attended several courses, seminars and conferences around the world including India, China, Burkina Faso, Ghana etc to mention a few. As a proof of his cosmopolitan professional exposure, Engr. Soliu Bare Badmos is an erudite Scientist and very skillful in research proposals writings. Badmos Bare Soliu was decorated and presented an award as the most dedicated staff in the year 2016 and Director Generals Merit award of excellence in 2017. National Association of Kajola Students (NAKS), 2016 Alumnus of the year award. Without iota of flatter or flaunt, he is very intelligent and demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities. He has wide experience in research analysis. He is fully abreast with the latest skills of energy auditing.A beneficiaries and promoter of socio-economic development, courageous strides and humanitarian services in Nigeria, who have carefully adhere to the task of building a bridge across that mighty river flowing between economic slavery and land of general prosperity that we are waiting for ages. He deserves to be eulogized and honoured.
