Edo Assembly: Obaseki gets Ultimatum from NASS
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has been issued a 5-day final ultimatum to issue a new declaration letter for the “correct” inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly and election of new Speaker.
Newsmen reports that the request came at a meeting of the authority of the National Assembly, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Director-General (DG) of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, in Abuja.
Newsmen accumulated that the gathering was held at the case of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, over the appeal received from 15 member-elect of the Edo Assembly who was not inaugurated in June this year.
Newsmen reviews that 15 distressed individuals from the State Assembly had appealed to the National Assembly, IGP and DSS DG over what they portrayed as “illegal inauguration” of the Edo seventh Assembly and the election of a new Speaker by 9 out of 24 lawmakers.
At the meeting, the National Assembly and the police communicated status to assume control over the issues of the Edo Assembly if the representative neglects to comply with the orders following five working days.
