The Joint Committees on Education and Projects Mornitoring and Evaluation of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly have assured the contractors handling educational Building Projects that if they do well more opportunities will be on their ways, whereas if they misperformed, the state will make sure the contractors are brought to book following the law.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the one story building of 22 modern classrooms at Izzo High School Ndiaguazu Umuoghara in Ezza North and Kpakpaji High School Ezzama in Ezza South Local Government , the Chairman of the House Committee on Education Hon Barr Aloysius Nwodo representing Ebonyi North West Constituency expressed satisfaction with the level of job done and enjoined other contractors to emulate the work.

Hon Nwodo equally lauded the job done at Izzikworo Secondary School and said that if contractors are executing jobs like this, government will be encouraged to give more contracts to indigenous contractors.

He however frowned at the slow pace of work and shoddy job at St,Andians Secondary School Umuezeoka in Ezza North Local Government and Unwana Comprehensive secondary in Afikpo and directed that the contractors should effect corrections and stick to the specifications on the job order.

Equally the Chairman House Committee on Projects Mornitoring and Evaluation representing Afikpo North East Hon Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali commended the contractors that performed well and condemned the job done by contractors handling the school buildings at Comprehensive Secondary School, Uwana and Ibiam Girls Secondary School in Afikpo North Local Government charging them to engage professionalism in their jobs. He further stated that it’s regrettable to see that most contractors doesn’t engage qualified Engineers in the execution of the projects, thereby leaving the faith of the government projects in the hands of quacks.

Hon Ukie Ezeali maintained that a project of such magnitude must be under the watch and supervision of qualified civil Engineers and Building Engineers..and thereafter posited that any site without qualified Engineers and Builders shall be sanctioned.

He urged them to speed up thier pace for the job to be completed before the second qauter of 2025.

Other members of the Committee on the visit that spoke include, the Chairman House Committee on Infrastructure Hon Prince Nkemka Okoro Onumah, Hon Friday Ogbuewu, Hon Stephen Orji Igwe,Hon Joseph Ununu,Hon Goodluck Obinna Mbam, Hon Victor Nwoke, Hon Chikezie Igu, Hon Chief Abiri Abiri, and Hon Ifeanyi Nwakpu, all commended the State Governor Rt Hon Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru on his giant strides on the educational sector.
