Delta State Hosts the 8th Edition of the National Youth Games, 2024

The 8th National Youth Games officially kicked off today in Asaba, with the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, urging the state’s contingent to strive for gold.
During the opening ceremony at the Steve Keshi Stadium, Asaba, the Speaker called on Delta athletes to uphold the pride and expectations of the state. In a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor stressed the importance of representing Delta with excellence.
“Dear Delta State contingent, as you compete in the 8th National Youth Games, remember that you carry the hopes and dreams of our state. Show the nation the true spirit of Delta State,” Guwor said.
He highlighted the values of resilience, determination, and excellence as critical to achieving success and making the state proud.
The Speaker also welcomed athletes from other states, stating, “To our brothers and sisters from across Nigeria, we warmly welcome you to Delta State. Let the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship guide you throughout the competition. In unity and camaraderie, we are all winners.”
He extended a warm invitation to visitors, saying, “It is an honor for us to host the 8th National Youth Games, and we hope to showcase our state’s hospitality, culture, and beauty. Enjoy the games, explore Delta, and take home memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. You are now part of the Delta State family!”
