Delta Assembly screens, confirms nominees of LGA Councils – Nassnews Correspondent, Delta State Assembly, Bozimo Ebipame-ere Ophelia.

The Delta State Assembly have successfully screened and confirmed nominees for appointment as Secretaries of Local Government Area Councils on September 10, 2024.

Initially, 21 nominees were to be presented by representatives from their respective constituencies. However, two nominees from Isoko South and Sapele Local Government Areas were stepped down by the Speaker due to unforeseen circumstances in their LGAs.

As a result, 17 nominees were thoroughly screened and confirmed by the House. The confirmed nominees are:

1. Mr. Unuavworho Irikefe Goodluck – Ughelli North LGA
2. Mr. Osakwe Grayham Alakabrukeme – Uvwie LGA
3. Elder P.A. Oduru – Patani LGA
4. Mr. Henry Obiora Enebeli – Oshimili South LGA
5. Mr. Ajufo Augustine Eloka – Oshimili North LGA
6. Barr. Victor Ogheneovo E. – Okpe LGA
7. Mr. Sunday Enu – Ndokwa West LGA
8. Mr. Tunji Gabriel Iyasele – Ndokwa East LGA
9. Mr. Kennedy Dibia Okoh – Aniocha North LGA
10. Mr. Famous Ofurobiri – Bomadi LGA
11. Mr. Ebojoh Ojeh Francis – Ethiope East LGA
12. Mr. Sunday Young Adjamue – Ethiope West LGA
13. Mr. Etumundun Tunde Martins – Ika North East LGA
14. Barr. Vote Augustine Umukoro – Isoko North LGA
15. Mr. Gbise Ekwetafia Andrew, JP – Udu LGA
16. Mr. Chukunomnazu Osundu – Ukwuani LGA
17. Mr. Nunu E. Emmanuel – Warri South LGA

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Dennis, congratulated the nominees on their appointments as Secretaries of their respective LGAs.

However, nominees from Ika South and Ughelli South were asked to withdraw from the screening due to incomplete documentation in their CVs. They were instructed to make the necessary corrections and return for screening on September 11, 2024.

Following deliberations, the Speaker recommended the successful nominees for confirmation. The motion to confirm was moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Festus Okoh, and seconded by representatives from the nominees’ various constituencies.
