Brekete Family Host, Ahmed Isah, Offers to Mediate Between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Akpabio

Ahmed Isah, popularly known as the “Ordinary President” and host of the Brekete Family Human Rights Radio and Television programme, has appealed to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to allow him to mediate in their ongoing dispute.

The conflict between the two lawmakers became public last Thursday during a Senate plenary session when Akpoti-Uduaghan refused to sit in the newly assigned seat allocated to her. The disagreement escalated further on Tuesday when she filed a lawsuit against Akpabio at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, alleging defamation.

In the suit, filed through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Akpabio and his Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, were listed as the second and third defendants.

Speaking on Brekete Family on Wednesday, Isah urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to withdraw the case and trust him to mediate a resolution between both parties.

“I will still advise her [Natasha] to drop the case. I want to volunteer to mediate on the matter,” he said.

“If Natasha trusts me to mediate and the Senate President trusts me enough to give me the chance, I will mediate.

“There is always a meeting point in every mediation. Mediation requires both parties to make compromises.”

Isah’s call for dialogue comes amid growing tensions between the senator and the Senate President, with many closely watching how the situation unfolds.
