BREAKING: SENATE CONFIRMS THREE CBN PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEES, REJECTS ONE

Nassnews recalls that the President presented four persons for appointment as members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Central Bank of Nigeria on Wednesday 14th March, 2018.
The Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institution Led by it’s Chairman Senator Rafiu Adebayo from Kwara, presented their reports for confirmation by the Senate.
The persons nominated by Mr President were referred to the committee by the Senate for interview and interrogation. The Committee haven interviewed and examined the nominees Professor Adeola Featus Adenikinju, Dr. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi, Dr. Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr. Asheikh A. Maidugu presented them for confirmation by the Senate. The committee described Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju, Dr Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi and Robert Chikwendu Asogwa as satisfactory in conduct with fast knowledge of the (MPC) operations, deligent and resourceful and asked the Senate to confirm them.
But the committee not satisfied with the conduct of the fourth person Dr. Asheikh. Amadugu base on the fact that the person is a regular Civil Servant and may not be Independent in decision making, asked the Senate to reject the nomination.
The Senate uninanimously confirm the first three nominee Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju, Dr Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi and Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and rejected the fourth Dr. Asheikh. Amadugu.
In like manner,Mrs Aishat Ahmad and Mr Edward Lamatek Adamu were received and also confirmed for appointment as Deputy Governors of Central Bank of Nigeria.
