Breaking News: Delta State House of Assembly Holds Public Hearing on Pets Control Bill

The Delta State House of Assembly will hold a public hearing on Monday,  September 9, to deliberate on a proposed bill aimed at regulating the licensing, control, and registration of pets within the state. The hearing will take place at 2:00 PM in the conference hall of the State Assembly complex.

In a statement issued by Hon. Perkins Umukoro, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, he called on relevant stakeholders, including the Ministries of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health, Environment, Oil and Gas, and Justice, to submit their memoranda to the committee no later than Friday, September 6, 2024.

The statement further invited Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and the Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association to submit their inputs as well.

All submissions must be in 12 copies, sealed in an envelope, and addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources. The envelope should be marked “Delta State Pet Control and Responsible Ownership Bill, 2024” and delivered through the clerk of the committee.
