There was a free for all at the stands of Delta and Imo States at the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Saturday. The fight started after a group loyal to Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, arrived at the stand reserved for Imo delegates. Those loyal to Eze Madumere, the deputy governor, were asked to vacate the seats but Madumere’s faction refused, and this led to a fight as the private security guard of the governor called “Okorocha Good Governance ” descended on members of the group. In like manner, the woman leader in one of the Delta state stand was attacked. We saw thugs brandishing bottles as then shook one of the loyalist of the politician. blood was seen all over the place. But peace was restored by the security agents. We saw that the fight broke out towards the time the “Unity List” for the congress was released. The Unity List contained the names of candidates endorsed by Governors elected on the platform of the party.Top on the list as National Chairman was former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The list caused uproar in the stands of some states, including Delta and Imo States.Conspicuously missing on the Imo State list was the name of Senator Osita Izunaso.Izunaso had emerged from the South East Zonal Congress of the party to represent Imo State on the National Executive Committee as National Organising Secretary. However, written against the position of the National Organising Committee was Emeka Ikeduru, who is believed to be the candidate of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who has been at loggerheads with Izunaso and some other South East Zonal Executive and those of Imo State.
