A bill for act to amend the national health act, 2004 to regulate international trips for medical treatment by public officers, to strengthen the health institution for efficient service delivery scaled it second reading at the plenary on Thursday.
The bill seeks to create a conducive environment for better medical services for Nigerians.
Hon. Sergius Oseasochie says that the bill dose not tend to restrict public officers from traveling abroad for medical attention but to regulate the rate at which government officers travel out for medical attention. He gave instance of himself that he had to fly his mother abroad for medical treatment.
Hon Kaita in his debate thank the mover of the motion( Hon sergius Oseasochie) saying that it is high time for this to be taken seriously. He further said that most doctors who work abroad are Nigerians.
Hon. Namdas in his debate says that most doctors who work in the public hospital give less of their time to the public hospital and give more time to their own private hospital thereby neglecting their primary duty.
