A group, Senator Ishaku Abbo Vanguard, has accused Senator Binta Garba of playing a role in the allegation of assault brought against the representative of Adamawa North in the Senate, Elisha Abbo.
Abbo of the Peoples Democratic Party unseated Binta of the All Progressives Congress after defeating her in the February 23 National Assembly poll.
In a viral video, the young lawmaker was seen physically assaulting a woman said to be a nursing mother in a sex toy shop in Abuja.
But his supporters on Thursday in Yola accused Binta, who’s challenging her defeat by Abbo at the Election Petitions Tribunal, of masterminding the incident.
The secretary of the group, Vetti Geofrey, claimed they had uncovered another plot by Binta and her supporters to contract a lady from Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State who will be handsomely rewarded to implicate Abbo to “damage his reputation”.
The group claimed it had the evidence of the alleged plot.
“The lady involved has made a confessional statement,” Geofrey said.
“She was asked to grant an interview with a TV station, where she will allege an assault was carried out against her by Senator Abbo. An interview with the TV station in Yola was scheduled for her on July 16 at 9am but the syndicate is still too scared to go ahead with the plan. She confided in someone with a confessional statement which is recorded. An alleged sum of N1m and a Sienna bus was promised the lady for the planned interview.”
The group told Binta to leave Abbo alone.
But Binta, who spoke through her personal aide, Ali Garba, denied the allegations.
“Abbo should leave me out of his troubles, perhaps his frustrations had to do with fear of his imminent defeat at the tribunal,” Garba told our correspondent on Friday.
He said the group’s allegation that Binta was behind Abbo’s travails had shown that the senator was spineless because he was not bold to name her (Binta) categorically.
