APC Senators faceoff with Saraki, Plenary Ends In Clash
nassnewsng.comAdeboyeThere was a serious clash between the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers yesterday during the plenary.
A lawmaker from the PDP, Senator Bassey Akpan, representing Akwa Ibom North-East, raised a point of order, alleging that the APC members were plotting to cause disorder in the state during the 2019 governorship election.
While trying to counter this allegation, Senator Godswill Akpabio who stood up to speak was refused from speaking by the senate president Bukola Saraki, due to the sitting arrangement.
Saraki had insisted that until Akpabio relocates to a designated seat, where there was a working microphone, he would not be allowed to speak.
However this did not go down well with other APC members as they accused the senate president of been biased and should be bi-partisan when handling the affairs of the senate.
Saraki’s attempt to bring the house under control was resisted by the APC lawmakers.
Meanwhile, Senator Akpabio had requested that the senate should tender an apology to him, adding that every lawmaker should be treated equally and given fair treatment not based on political party.
