A NEW DAWN; Senate Advances Science & Tech Growth with Raw Materials Bill

The Senate Committee on Science and Technology, led by Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, held a public hearing today, March 5, 2025, at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, on the Raw Materials Research and Development Council Act, 2022 (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (SB.606). The bill received overwhelming support from key stakeholders, including NIBC, SON, and ASUU, who lauded its potential to drive industrial growth and innovation. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Special Guest of Honour, highlighted the bill’s role in strengthening local manufacturing and research, as the committee pledged to incorporate all recommendations in the final amendment.
