Disenfranchise Of Hon. Shina Peller : A Brazen Assault Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa
By Constituent
We the good people of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa federal constituency, having recognized the fact that there is no system of government in history that is more secure than democratic, accountable and participatory form of government, observed with disdain the recent undemocratic happenings at the floor of the House of Representatives under the leadership of Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
On the 20th of October, 2020, Hon Shina Peller representing the largest federal constituency in the country, while trying to speak our mind on the ongoing ugly state of the nation which is a threat to our peaceful coexistence, he was cut short. This has further demonstrated the fact that democracy has only sunk theoretically in our nation, it has not yet sunk completely in practical terms.

The questions that are bothering our minds are: When are we going to call the bluff of politics of patronism and cronyism and stamp our feet redirecting our affairs exactly the way developed nations do? When do we bury the spirit of hate and unfair treatment to the voices that will speak the truth to our ugly situations?
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter, it is on this note that we want Mr Speaker to note that the true test of leadership is how well it functions in time of crisis. It is ridiculous that such an ugly incident could happen at this trying period when our voices must be heard via our representatives.
The Honorable Speaker should note that trust is like an eraser, it gets smaller and smaller after every mistake, we’re all moved by your inaugural speech where you preached a shift from the old order, but to our surprise, it is the same politics of patronism and cronyism.
We therefore want to sound it to Mr Speaker and other principal officers of the House of Representatives that any further attempt to prevent our representative, Hon Shina Peller from speaking the minds of the good people of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa federal constituency on national issues will be an affront to our democracy and will amount to a political genocide against the common man.
In conclusion, while appreciating the courageous and mature disposition of our representative (Hon Shina Peller), we want to appeal to you, to keep the good work up and never to be dettered from speaking the minds of our people. We are strongly with you and together we shall make Nigeria great again.
