Education Nigeria surest route to development – Atiku

Former Vice president, Atiku Abubaka has on Thursday disclosed that Education is the surest route to development of the country.
He made this known during public hearing on the Bills of the Modibbo Adamawa University Yola, Adamawa State and Federal University of Agricultural Technology, Funtua Katsina State establishment etc bill 2019 organized by the senate committee on tertiary institutions and TETFUND.
According to the former vice president, the conversation of the Modibbo Adama university of technology to a conventional university will not only help in the development of the state but of the nation.
He also noted that there is an immense pressure on the public sector and education is worst hit. That the allocation of resources to the education sector is very low.
He urged the senate to ensure that there is more allocation of resources to this important sector. Because when you have young men and women who are not productively engaged there is a very high tendency for them to engage in social vices.
Meanwhile, the senate has urged the federal road maintenance agency to give our roads a proper face lift to ease movement during this yuletide season.
This was raised in a motion by senator Chukwuka Utazi representing Enugu North who decried the hardship Nigerians are under on our roads especially with the multiple roads blocks.
The senator pointed out that there were about 60 road blocks between the Lagos-Ore route that has caused a lot of stress for commuters.
The senate president while granting the request to the prayer made by Senator Utazi, urged the inspector general of police to appeal to his men to ensure that the check points wear a human face and desist from every form of extortion.
