Members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, have boycotted plenary session, over alleged non payment of their Constituency allowances by Governor Yahaya Bello.

The Lawmakers had gathered at the Assembly Complex, on Wednesday, after which they went into an executive session.

However, after the executive session, the day’s plenary could not hold due to lack of quorum, as some of the Lawmakers stormed out of the Assembly in protest, over the alleged non payment of their allowances.

It was learnt that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole, and a few other Lawmakers who were left at the Assembly could not convene the plenary, as they could not form a quorum.

A Lawmaker who confirmed the development, stated that they were aggrieved that the State Government only paid 75 percent of their Constituency allowance in 2017, while they were yet to receive any Constituency allowance for 2018.

He noted that the aggrieved Lawmakers have vowed not to sit until the Constituency allowances are paid, pointing out that it is the only avenue they can use to impact their Constituents position
