Ganduje: It’s Not the North’s Turn for Presidency in 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has stated that the North will not assume the presidency in 2027, emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu will seek re-election for a second term. According to him, after Tinubu completes his tenure, power can then return to the North in 2031.

Ganduje reaffirmed that the APC strongly upholds the principle of power rotation and zoning. He made this declaration on Tuesday while hosting a delegation from the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum.

Speaking at the event, the former Kano State governor commended the forum’s efforts in enlightening the public on the federal government’s tax reform agenda. He noted that while the reform was initially misunderstood, continued public engagement had helped citizens grasp its purpose.

“Support organizations like yours play a crucial role in public enlightenment. Whenever the federal government introduces an agenda, such groups can step in to assist, fostering public understanding and inclusiveness in governance. We truly appreciate your efforts,” Ganduje stated.

The APC chairman also praised the forum’s plans to mobilize voters for the 2027 elections, calling their initiative “encouraging.” He emphasized that President Tinubu represents all six geopolitical zones and continues to receive support from across the country.

“Our party believes in zoning. When a northern leader completed his eight-year tenure, we strongly advocated for the next president to emerge from the South. With the cooperation of Nigerians, we achieved that. Now, our president is from the South, and by God’s grace, he will seek a second term in 2027. After that, it will be the turn of the North.”

Ganduje assured the youth forum that their proposals would be reviewed for possible areas of cooperation, urging them to continue their efforts in mobilizing support for the APC.
