Short Air Trips May Blossom In Nigeria, As Airline Begins N6,500 Lagos to Ibadan Flight

One of Nigeria’s domestic carriers, Green Africa, has commenced affordable flights from Lagos to Ibadan for the low cost of 6,500 Naira.

Traveling by road from Ibadan to Lagos is 4,000 naira only. But the bus fare is 3,000 naira.
The water salute ceremony to mark the inaugural flight of the airline took place at the Ibadan airport, Alakia, on Saturday.
While welcoming the Airline to Ibadan, the state capital, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde assured that his administration will continue to provide a conducive environment for investors in the state.
Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal, the governor said in the last four years, efforts had been made to improve the facilities at the airport, stressing that his administration had been able to open up the aviation industry in Ibadan, the state capital.
It remains to be seen if further air routes from Ibadan to Lagos, then touch down to Benin City, Warri, Asaba, Port Harcourt and Calabar can commence, opening up shuttle trips along that corridor to unlock the huge economic and social potentials in that axis.

Swedish aeronautical engineers have been making light bodied shuttle planes that run on solar powered panels over short distances. If Nigerian investors dive into that sector to build a truly imaginative and energetic means of shuttle air travel, the opportunities unlocked would be outstanding.
