KADUNA/TORO ROAD HAS BEEN IN A TERRIBLE STATE FOR 10YEARS – HONOURABLE MUDA LAWAL UMAR
…… I focus my constituency, anything outside MY constituency is an act of kindness
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH HONOURABLE MUDA LAWAL UMAR FROM BAUCHI, OVER A MOTION FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO REPAIR INTER-STATE ROAD THAT LINKS KADUNA AND TORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT WHICH HAS BEEN IN A TERRIBLE STATE ABOUT 10YEARS NOW.
Honorable Umar Muda Lawal is the member representing Toro Federal Constituency Bauchi State at the 9th Assembly and one of the youthful representation in the 9th Assembly at 33years old.
Toro local government is rich in culture and has diverse ethnic groups such as Duguza, Fulani, Kaiwari, Hausa amongst others. However, Fulfulde is a major language spoken by the people of the area (especially in the town of Toro).
In an interview with Nassnews correspondent, Becky, Honorable Umar Muda Lawal expressed his deepest motive to sponsor the motion for the federal government to repair the inter-state road that link to kaduna and Toro local government which has been in a terrible state about 10years now.
Hon. Muda Lawal: I am Muda Lawal Umar am from Bauchi State I feel honored to meet you.
Nassnews: kindly tell us your background, how you came into politics, how was growing up like, then your profession apart from politics?
Hon. Muda Lawal: As a youth I haven’t gone far; I haven’t done so much. I did my primary and secondary school in Bauchi and completed my secondary school in Abuja here. I went to university in Asia and came back. And since then, I went into business because getting a job was difficult and while doing business, I think I lost a bit of it and then I woke up one day and decided to join politics looking at my constituency and then my local government being a single local government in the constituency, I felt I haven’t been able to see any serious development politically I felt to give it a trial to contest for the election. I went direct to consulting the necessary political stakeholders and other things that needed to be done and I found myself here.
Nassnews: what instigate this motion you presented on the floor?
Hon. Muda Lawal: That particular road is an interstate road and I was calling on the federal government to do it because its an inter-state road that link to kaduna and my local government which has been in a terrible state about 10years now. A lot of insecurities is going on in that area, a military officer was killed on that same road by criminals in 2019, that means it is important for me to call on federal government through a motion to work on that Road. We have a lot of farmers who uses that road and I think fixing the road will do a lot of good for our people.
Nassnews: what is your short- and long-term benefits for your people and Nigeria at large?
Hon. Muda Lawal: My own is just to represent them and give them quality representation and by values I think I can push more politically with believe that I can bring a lot of development to them and give them quality representation better than what used to be before I came in.
Nassnews: can we talk about the healthcare, how it has been in the past?
Hon. Muda Lawal: In my constituency we have only one general hospital in the whole of the local government with three major districts. We have a lot of primary health care centers which by 2020 I made an effort in budgetary provision to fix all of our primary health care centers. Even during my campaign, I contributed to a lot of health care facilities, finishing the primary health care center which was started by the previous assembly which was abandoned but I completed them to show my people what we can do.
Nassnews: can we quickly talk about your achievements within your constituency and outside your constituency sir?
Hon. Muda Lawal: My constituency first, as a member I focus only on my constituency for now and anything outside the constituency is an act of kindness. Within the constituency what I’ve been able to do since I came into National Assembly in 2019. I’ve been able to move motions and passed three (3) bills, I have federal medical center in the bill and I have federal cancer center in a motion. I have moved several motions that has to do with the country at large which is in the motion calling on the federal government to declare state of emergency on youths and development in the country. In education sector I have done so much because just last year I have been able to build over ten (10) schools in different communities and I have been able to renovate and construct new ones. I have done series of empowerment from years till now and we have also done women empowerment just last year over 300 of them in the constituency.
