Lawan swears in Olujimi as Senator
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Thursday, administered the oath of office on Senator Biodun Olujimi as Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District
Olujimi replaced the former Senate Spokesperson, Adedayo Adeyeye, whose election was nullified by both the Ekiti State Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna recently.
She had challenged the victory of Senator Adedayo Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ekiti South senatorial election in the last general elections at the tribunal.
Adeyeye, who until recently was the senate’s spokesperson, was sacked by both the Ekiti State Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
Olujimi was sworn in as senator after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued her with certificate of return on Wednesday as the rightful winner of the election that held on February 23, 2019.
Prior to joining politics in 1997, Olujimi had a stint in broadcasting and journalism.
She worked with the Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Posts and Telecommunication, Nigerian Television Authority, and reached the height of her journalism career as the manager of DBN Television in 1993.
