The Police Officers Wives Association on Monday empowered Women from 36 states of the Federation with different categories of Cash and value rated materials. At the event at POWA Secretariat, the POWA National President Princess Asmau Ndayako I.K Idris, wife of the Inspector General of police said in 2017, POWA embarked on tours to several states of the Federation and in the process launched its campaign against drug abuse, child molestation and need for environmental sanitation in police barracks.
80 widows of the fallen heroes chosen from all the 36 States of the Federation was empowered with a starter pack to start a trade to help cater for needs of their immediate families.
She said there shall be strict supervision and constant follow up to ensure that the funds are being properly utilized.
She also acknowledged the newly established unit, the Force Development and Empowerment Unit (FDEU) which currently is helping and will continue to help the association in achieving their aims and objectives in the areas of Empowerment.
