At plenary members of the house of reps moves motion for the need to expedite the completion of the Anyigba substation in kogi state.
The house said that the
Anyigba transmission substation contract in 2017 but work was stopped due to the demise of the contractor and since then no work has been done.
The house also made it known that the project is captured in the 2018 budget proposal before the National Assembly and transmission company of Nigeria (TCN) is contemplating moving the equipment at the site to it head office in Lagos for safe keep.
The house further note that the Anyigba transmission substation is a strategic substation to evacuate power generation by the mambila power plan when completed hence the transmission company of Nigeria (TCN) expansion plan to upgrade it to a 330/132kv substation.
The is house is worried that if the equipment at the Anyigba transmission substation is taking out of the site to the TCN head quarters in Lagos as proposed may not return.
They urge the transmission company of Nigeria (TCN) to stop the idea of moving the equipment to the Lagos headquarters and employ the service of a capable security outfit to keep watch on the site.
The house also mandate the committee on power to liaise with the minister of power, works and housing to ensure the immediate take off of the project and report to the house In four weeks for further legislative action.
